This beautiful, solid wood cutting board is made from locally sourced walnut and can be crafted to a number of sizes. Each piece is individually chosen for its quality and grain detail. The handles are handcrafted to be unique in design and comfortable in function. All of our pieces are sanded to a buttery smoothness, finished with walnut oil and buffed with walnut oil wax. These finishes are completely food safe, non-allergenic, and available for purchase for your continued maintenance.

Both sides of the wood cutting board are completely usable. You have the option of adding rubber feet to one side of the board. These help by inhibiting movement on counter and table surfaces. Use one side for cutting and all of your food prep. The opposite side is a great serving tray or charcuterie board. It also makes a great table centerpiece for your kitchen or dining table!

FINISH OPTIONS

Walnut Oil & Wax: We Use Mahoney’s Finishes. This finish is 100% high linoleic acid walnut oil, completely natural and food safe. There are no chemical driers. This oil has been heat-treated to make the oil dry faster and to remove any possible allergens. Linoleic acid is a particular acid that is naturally found in walnut oil. It is a stabilizing agent that makes the oil’s shelf life longer than other natural oils. We then use Mahoney’s oil wax finish (beeswax, carnuba wax, and walnut oil) for a smooth and durable finish. If you intend to use this item as a cutting board, please select the oil & wax finish. This will need to be maintained over time with additional oil/wax, depending on how often it is used and washed.

Durable Clearcoat Seal: We also offer a maintenance-free Arm-R-Seal clearcoat finish. This is a great option for pieces that will be displayed for decoration. This finish does not require ongoing maintenance like the oil finish and will not leave oil residue on walls. When fully cured, it is also safe for direct food contact and can be used as a charcuterie board or serving tray. DO NOT cut on clearcoat seal as it will compromise the finish.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

As with any handcrafted natural wood piece, it may bow, cup, or develop small cracks over time, especially if not properly maintained. Over exposure to moisture will increase the likelihood of these potential issues. At GRITWORX, our wood is left to rest in stages prior to reaching their final thickness to help reduce warping and twisting over time.
• Do Not soak or submerge (and never wash any board in a dishwasher!).
• Hand wash with hot soapy water, towel dry, then allow to air dry fully.
• We recommend regular care of your board. Oil / wax monthly, depending on usage and exposure to moisture, to maintain the beauty and quality for years to come. (Not required on clearcoat sealed boards)
